Lauren Loose: Courage Award Recipient!

Everyone in my extended family is pretty awesome, but none moreso than my little cousin Lauren Loose. Lauren was born with neurofibromatosis. You can read all about her life here, and you should go and read because her story is so compelling. NF affects 1 in about every 4,000 births and I've run a couple marathons now to help raise money for research on the genetic disorder.

Despite such physical hardships caused by her condition, at fourteen, Lauren has an amazing outlook on life, tons of personality and is an inspiration to everyone who knows her. She's my hero!

On Tuesday, Lauren received a special “Courage Award” at the Easton Area Middle School Awards ceremony. If anyone deserves a Courage Award, it's Lauren. Over 1300 students in the 7th and 8th grade gave her a standing ovation. The video is below. Listen to the cheers! They warm my heart. Much much deserved! Congrats, Lauren. Wish you all the best now that school's out for Summer!!
