FIFTEEN: SEASON TWO, EPISODE TWELVE: THEY CAN'T PLAY WORTH BEANS!

Last time on Fifteen, Billy and Matt were both rejected by Ashley, Dylan and Chris were both rejected by Arseman, Courtney was rejected by both common sense and fashion and Janice was rejected by everyone at Hillside due to #NecklaceGate. Who will be told to step off this week?

Dylan's Garage Band. The band is practicing for their upcoming gig, and things are going pretty well considering how untalented they all are. When they finish, Dylan freaks out that it wasn't good enough. The rest of the band is like, "Well, at least we ended together... high fives?" But the pressure is getting to Dylan. He doesn't like that he and Chris ended on different notes even though they sounded good. Arseman patiently and hilariously explains to Dylan that people playing different notes that sound good together is the point of being in a band. This almost gets through to Dylan, but not quite. Tensions are HIGH.

Avalon - Counter of Casual Conversation. Ashley and Courtney talk about the band's upcoming gig, because that's the center of everyone's lives now. We also get an update on NecklaceGate, which is that there are no updates. Courtney still hasn't been able to talk to Janice. But it's Courtney, so do we really think she's made the effort? Ashley was sent away to boarding school and Courtney didn't make an effort to talk to her for weeks. NecklaceGate has only been going on for like 2 days, so I'm sure Courtney has done no outreach at all. Still, Ashley and Courtney agree the whole situation is lousy.

Dylan's Garage Band. The guys are getting into "costume" for the gig. They look hilarious. Why are they not wearing regular clothes like sane people would do? Arseman has the same question. The guys think she looks fine as is, but they got a costume for her anyway. It's a cheap bustier. I guess she's wearing her own pants? Or maybe no pants? Either way, Arseman informs them that if that's one of the costume pieces someone else will be wearing it.The bustier is cut. Arseman will wear her normal clothes.

Hillside - Locker Labyrinth. A bunch of random guys talk about the band's upcoming gig, because why wouldn't they? This is BIG NEWS. Dylan and Chris come in and they are like, "yeah, whatever. we're rockstars now." Brooke and Stacy head them off at the stairs and tell them how excited they are to watch the show. Dylan gives them the fakest grin ever.  They are super fake nice to each other until Dylan leaves. Then Brooke spits out, "Of course it'll be a raging FLOP! They can't play worth BEANS!" It's her best line delivery of the season.

Hillside - Loser's Lounge. Billy is practicing drumming on his books and his lack of technique is A BAD SIGN for what's to come. Courtney comes over and tries to be an encouraging big sister for the longest amount of time she has ever attempted to do such a thing. Billy is freaking out because he's finally admitted to himself the harsh truth that he is a terrible drummer and should not be in a band and should not be performing in public. Courtney boosts his confidence by reminding him of that time he peed his pants in kindergarten because he was afraid to play a turnip in the class play. How is this helping? Billy agrees to believe in himself if Courtney will just stop talking. Also, their dad continues to be the biggest deadbeat dad on the planet and is not coming to the concert even though he said he would. What a loser!

Elsewhere in the lounge near the benches, Ashley is giving a pep talk to Dylan. He too is now fully aware that the band is no good, but it's not like there's enough time to cancel the gig. Ashley tries to be supportive, but pretty quickly the conversation becomes about what a jerk Matt is. Way to make Dylan's anxiety be about your stupid ex-boyfriend problems, Ashley. That's some Courtney-level terrible right there.

Avalon, Gig Central. Billy, Arseman and Chris are setting up the band, when Dylan enters and freaks out on them because they are rearranging the set pieces without him. Arseman pulls Dylan aside and politely but firmly requests that he chill the fuck out. Seriously, it is their first gig and they know it means a lot to Dylan and they will all do their best for themselves and for him. It's a sweet sentiment, but Dylan is not going to calm down. I'm sure all that tension between him and the band will make their performance super-great!

Hillside - Stairway to Nowhere. Matt runs into Ashley who is more than happy to give him the cold shoulder. He asks if she is going to the gig, and OF COURSE she is. That's the whole scene? Really? Blink and you'll miss it.

Avalon. Gig Central. It's time for the gig. The whole cast is here! Scenes like this never happen. Sure, no one will really talk, but at least they are all present. Astonishing, There's even this girl named Roxanne, who is... Chris's best friend/random rocker chick? Does she go to the school? Never seen her around before. The band plays "Mama says be glad" AGAIN and it sounds... OKAY. When they finish, Dylan and Chris agree it wasn't very good, but they head into the second song anyway.

Hillside - Stairway to Nowhere. The bandmates enter, shell-shocked from their first gig. They all know they could've been better, but the extras still want their autographs because there is no accounting for taste. The only person who thinks it went well is Billy. Big surprise. Courtney comes over to congratulate him and he goes completely bonkers talking about their next gig and the next and how he might drop out of school to go on tour. DELUSIONAL. Courtney manages to talk Billy back from the ledge. This poor kid, though. He is gonna completely lose it when he gets kicked out of the band for not being good at drumming.

Hillside - Losers Lounge. Courtney comes over to congratulate Arseman, but Arseman isn't really feeling it. She had fun, but she could tell they weren't very good. Finally, someone on this show isn't completely insane! Courtney insists she enjoyed the show and that they'll get better. Arseman is glad they're only doing it for fun, but they both know that won't be good enough for Dylan to be satisfied.

One table over in the lounge, Brooke and Stacy sit and discuss how the band did at the gig. Stacy liked them, but Brooke though it was terrible in every imaginable way. Stacy is really losing patience with how awful Brooke is, and begs Brooke to close her eyes and name one thing she saw that she liked that day. Brooke picks her own outfit. Stacy is initially flattered, thinking Brooke is talking about her clothes, but Brooke disabuses her of that notion, calling Stacy's outfit "tacky." Stacy suddenly has an elsewhere to be. Brooke tells her she'll see Stacy at the Avalon later, but I have a feeling Stacy will not be making that date.

Avalon - Main Booth of Motorcycle Bitches. Roxanne is giving Chris her assessment of the gig. She thought Arseman was fine and was at least having fun, unlike Chris and Dylan. She thinks Billy was the real weak link. Chris agrees. I think the weak link in this scene is Roxanne. Roxanne tells him that the band could be really great (unlikely) if they'd just change drummers. Chris now has renewed resolve to kick Billy out.

Hillside - Stairway to Nowhere. Ashley confronts Matt about how he thinks she's lying about nothing going on between her and Dylan. He apologizes. And then they spend a couple minutes chuckling about how Billy has a crush on her and is buying her presents. WTF? How did we get from there to here? These two are not going to reconcile. THEY. ARE. NOT!

Dylan's Garage Band. Dylan and Chris debrief about that afternoon's gig. Dylan is majorly disappointed. It's not at all what he was hoping for in terms of quality. Chris agrees, but believes they are not far off from where they need to be. They just need to change one thing. Dylan knows who has to go: Billy. This show has no great love for character continuity, but the one thing that has always been clear is that Dylan is very protective of Billy and he really did try to keep that insane no-talent in the band for as long as humanly possible. Try not to feel too guilty when you tear his heart out and stomp all over it, Dylan.

Avalon - Main Booth of Thieves and Stolen Goods. Brooke cannot BELIEVE that Stacy stood her up for the after-school date that Stacy never agreed to. She complains to Amanda about it but Amanda doesn't care. Brooke asks to borrow Amanda's mascara and Amanda agrees. As Brooke goes to open Amanda's bag, Amanda remembers that she is a thief and Courtney's stolen necklace is in her bag. She asks Brooke not to open the bag. So Brooke decided to dump the whole thing out and there's the necklace! Amanda freaks out. Brooke is delighted. She cannot believe her little sister has caused so much trouble for Janice and Courtney. Amanda begs Brooke not to tell anyone, but Brooke has been craving an opportunity for revenge this sweet all season. Doesn't matter though. Before they can strike a deal, Courtney and Arseman enter and see the necklace. Amanda swears she didn't do it and runs off. Sorry Amanda, that move looked a lot more convincing when Janice did it a few episodes back. Courtney gets the necklace back! All is repaired! Hooray!

Next Time, on FIFTEEN. It's the SEASON FINALE! Everything that doesn't get resolved will be completely abandoned when Season 3 starts. Cross your fingers for the closure you're hoping for!
