FIFTEEN: SEASON TWO, EPISODE ELEVEN: A PIZZA A DAY KEEPS ARSEMAN OKAY

Last time on Fifteen: Courtney got her grandmother's necklace and immediately lost it. Janice got friends and immediately lost them. Dylan and Chris got a lead singer and immediately lost her respect. Who will learn the hard way that you don't know what you've got til it's gone this week?

Hillside - Locker Labyrinth. Courtney and Arseman are still recovering from the shock that Janice might have stolen Courtney's necklace. They are pretty sure that she did it, but they don't want to believe it's true. They just don't understand why she ran off when Brooke accused her, if she was really innocent. Duh! She ran off because the writers required her to do so! Brooke comes in and goes on about how sad it is that Janice betrayed Courtney and stole the necklace. Her over-the-top antics, push the girls toward believing Janice is innocent, just to spite Brooke. But they won't know for sure until they can talk to Janice, and nobody knows where she is. Maybe she ran off to pawn the necklace while she still had the chance? No! She didn't do it! Did she?

Avalon - Main Booth of Mopey Teenagers. Ashley is telling Dylan how things have not improved between her and her parents. You might have forgotten this was a key point of tension in the beginning of Season 2, since no one has mentioned it for several episodes. It's still a big problem though! Dylan continues to advise Ashley to give no fucks about her parents' opinions. But Ashley does still have fucks to give about her parents and her schoolwork. Chris comes over from the counter and he and Dylan switch places. Then Ashley has the exact same conversation with Chris that she had with Dylan! Then she kinda flirts with him and forgives him for being a jerk when he came on to her at Dylan's garage last episode. They are totally going to start dating. Gross.

Hillside - Losers Lounge. NecklaceGate Update! No one has turned in the necklace to the main office at school. Courtney is becoming more certain that Janice is the culprit. Arseman remains doubtful despite the circumstantial evidence. From across the room, we hear Chris shouting about the lack of entries in the name the band contest. Why isn't anyone interested in naming a band that barely exists and probably sounds terrible? He can't understand it! The girls go back to talking about NecklaceGate. Dylan comes over and starts laying the compliments on thick with Arseman. Arseman's like, "This is the shit I've been telling you about." to Courtney. After a few more of his over-the-top declarations, Arsmean bails and Courtney tells Dylan to give up on whatever it is he's trying to do. As the girls walk down the hall, they get assaulted by Chris who is also trying to woo Arseman in the most absurd way possible. She begs him to leave her alone and suggests they all pretend they don't exist to each other outside of band rehearsal. Fine be me. Or even give up the band completely and never interact again!

Hillside - Stairs to Nowhere. Courtney splits off from Arseman and finds Billy sitting on the stairs. She reminds him that he's having dinner with her and their mom tonight. Billy's not looking forward to it, since his dad always gives him a hard time about seeing them. This is to remind us that Courtney and Billy have DIVORCE PROBLEMS. The writers are revisiting all sorts of forgotten plot lines in this episode! Billy briefly brings up NecklaceGate but Courtney demands he not say anything to either parent about it. Then she asks him WTF is up with Dylan and Chris, and while he makes a feeble attempt not to spill the beans, he does eventually tell her all the details about the bet over Arseman. That shit is about to blow up in both their faces. Hooray!

Hillside - Losers Lounge. Billy leaves Courtney and runs into Ashley. He hems and haws and stammers his way through saying nothing to her. She wants to go get a soda and for him to stop bothering her. She shows him where her books are and while her back is turned, he leaved the wrapped up scarf with her things. Smooth move, Billy.

Avalon - Main Booth of Mighty Questionable Plot Exposition.  Amanda is sitting with some extras and telling them about how the principal phoned Janice and told her she was accused of theft. This has to be all lies. How on Earth would Amanda know any of that? Amanda claims that Janice told her herself, but that doesn't make any sense either. Amanda is totally lying. Brooke stalks over to them and declares that nothing will happen to Janice unless she confesses or someone gets a search warrant to go through her house. It all seems unlikely, but Brooke declares she always knew that Janice was that kind of person.

Hillside - Losers Lounge. Ashley has unwrapped the package and wrapped its contents around her shoulders. Courtney and Ashley try to discover who the secret admirer is who left the scarf. Courtney is on the right track thinking it's Billy, but Ashley thinks that's totally ridiculous. She thinks it might be Chris, but Courtney thinks that is more ludicrous of a guess than Billy. For once, we agree! Chris would never be that considerate, plus he has his energy focused on the bet over Arseman.  They deduce it must be Mel Gibson then, but if that's the only other option, I think she'd be better off in the long run with either Billy or Chris.

Ashley goes to her locker and who should be lurking there, but Billy! He finally gets around to telling Ashley the scarf is from him and it is a reflection of his feelings for her. Ashley turns around and LAUGHS IN HIS FACE. You might not be surprised to learn that this is not the reaction Billy was hoping for. He runs off and Ashley just laughs and laughs, as she tries out what acting like a horrible person feels like for her.

Avalon - Main Booth of Men and Boys. Dylan tells Billy he should've told him who he had a crush on, because if he knew it was Ashley, he would've shut that whole thing down, Todd Akin-style. This seems to make sense to Billy. His big lament right now is how much money he lost on the scarf. Dylan's like, "live and learn." But these kids never learn anything.

Hillside - Locker Labyrinth. Courtney fills in Arseman about the details of the bet between Chris and Dylan. Arseman is more on the amused side of exasperated, and is mostly just glad to know what exactly is going on so that she can take them both down in an appropriate fashion. And of course she knows exactly what she's going to do because Arseman is smarter than the rest of this group of kids put together.

Hillside - Losers Lounge. The "Name the Band" contest continues to be a big bust. Dylan, Billy and Chris read through the awful submissions until Chris bails to spare himself from the torture. Arseman shows up, and instead of listening to the stupid names, she sends Billy away and gets to work on Dylan. She makes him believe that she's interested in him and wants to go on a date with him. Dylan eats this up because he is a total idiot. In his defense, I guess Arseman is pretty good at hiding her contempt for him in this moment. He's going to meet her at the Avalon after today's rehearsal.

Avalon - Counter of Confrontation. Dylan is talking up how good the band is gonna be to Jerry, when Matt comes up to him. Matt is no longer lumbering about like Frankenstein. He's angry again. He wants Dylan to tell him if there's something going on between him and Ashley. OMG, THIS AGAIN? Dylan can't believe it either. Ashley already told Matt nothing was going on. Matt just can't drop it. He thinks Ashley is lying or something. Who even remotely cares? Matt's an idiot.

Dylan's Garage Band. The band practices and doesn't sound good but Dylan doesn't care because he thinks he won the bet with Chris and nothing will ruin his mood. While Dylan is distracted fixing his amp, Arseman swoops in and tells Chris that they have to meet later at the Avalon later that night to discuss the connection that's going on between them. Chris is excited about it, because Chris is an idiot too.

Hillside - Losers Lounge. Janice is cleaning out her locker when Amanda comes over. They are at school WAY late, if this is happening after Dylan's band's practice which started at 4pm. Amanda is shocked to learn that Janice is transferring out of school, except she already told all those people at lunch that was in fact what Janice was doing. I don't understand Amanda at all. Anyway, Janice is leaving and Amanda is suddenly sad about it even though she has seemingly always hated Janice. Let's just move along.

Avalon - Main Booth of Bet Losers. Chris is waiting for Arseman when Dylan comes in. They both think they've won until Arseman enters and declares them both losers. She tells them off, and tells them if they don't stop their stupid bullshit she's leaving the band. For now, she's getting them their pizzas and sodas and they are going to eat every bite in one sitting. The boys are put in their place, but Arseman also inadvertently gives the band their name, "Teenagers in Love." It's perfectly stupid, so it fits, I guess.

The One Store At The Mall Where Everyone Shops. Amanda find Brooke shopping and tries to throw shade at her. Then immediately tries to seek advice from Brooke. Well it's not really advice. She tries to get Brooke to tell her it doesn't matter that Janice is leaving Hillside over NecklaceGate. At this point, it's clear that Amanda stole the necklace, right? Or she at least knows who has it. But Brooke can't figure out Amanda's deal at all, and I can't say I blame her. She has no consistent character motivation over the course of a scene, forget about an entire season's arc.

Avalon - Main Booth of Men Eating Pizzas. Arseman, Courtney and Ashley look on with delight as Chris and Dylan stuff themselves with pizza to the point of vomiting. 5 people in a scene together! We are definitely getting to the end of the season as the multiple character scenes increase in frequency. Unfortunately, at this point there is a skip in the recording and we miss part of the scene, but it ends with Matt leaving the Avalon really sad after talking with Ashley. If my memory from watching this 20-something years ago is correct (and why wouldn't it be, this was something truly important stuff to commit to my brain) Matt apologizes for thinking she was lying about Dylan and being a jealous asshole and then laments that things are really over between them and Ashley tells him they are. They have this conversation a lot though, so that's not such a wild guess on my part. Anyway, the episode is over! Hooray!

Next time, on Fifteen: The band finally has its gig at the Avalon. NecklaceGate is finally sorta solved! Stacy finally realizes that Brooke is a totally worthless human being! With only two episodes left, it's time to wrap this up!
